Understanding Child Psychiatry and Integrative Approaches

At our clinic, we approach psychiatry with a comprehensive mindset. When issues arise, it’s not only about reaching out to a therapist for support; it’s about understanding the full picture. Traditional psychiatry often focuses on medication as a primary treatment for mental health concerns. While medication can be an essential element of treatment, we believe in looking deeper.

Our integrative approach means, yes, sometimes medication is necessary, but it’s just as crucial to identify and address the root cause of the issue. For example, treating a thyroid problem isn’t only about prescribing medication; it’s also about considering dietary changes that could support thyroid health.

Instead of immediately turning to medication, we conduct sensitive and thorough evaluations. This might include gastrointestinal assessments, sleep studies, and more. We aim to uncover the underlying reasons for conditions like depression. If low vitamin D levels are a contributing factor, we focus on improving that aspect of health.

Our specialist, Jen Buscher, is a dedicated mental health practitioner with a passion for preventive care and patient advocacy. Believing firmly in the transformative power of early intervention and comprehensive treatment, Jen is committed to delivering personalized care tailored to each individual’s unique journey. Her approach is all about empowering patients to unlock their potential, make informed decisions, and lead lives filled with joy and purpose. With Jen as your guide, you’re not just on a path to healing; you’re on a journey to discovering your personal power and well-being.

We acknowledge that ongoing medication use can have long-term consequences, so our goal is to treat the contributing factors holistically and, where possible, reduce or eliminate the need for medication.

Our patient appointments are typically 60-90 minutes, significantly longer than the average 10-20 minute psychiatry visit. This extended time allows us to delve into the complexities of each patient’s situation thoroughly.

We believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, and this integrative, patient-centered approach sets us apart in the field of psychiatry.
